How to Layer Necklaces
I look at the stacked rings and cascading necklaces on Instagram, and wonder how some women so effortlessly create such a carefree, bohemian vibe with that touch of style and elegance. Well, I’ve done my research and come up with a few rules to help you achieve this cool concept that is layering.
Rule one:
Variety. For an organic and balanced look, pick pieces that are varied in length, texture, color and shape. But it’s good to stick with the same metal generally. Like gold, or rose gold. Though alternating between silver and gold rings creates a cool, intentional effect.
Rule two:
One to two. This rule consists of taking one item and putting it in between two items that are similar. It separates the similar pieces while still tying the pieces together and having a theme.
Rule three:
Simplicity. No matter how many pieces you stack and layer, you want to keep it simple, either through minimalist pieces or alternating between one ring on a finger and two rings on another. Layering is all about balance.
